Baltimore Ravens WR Zay Flowers had a great first two games of the season but hasn’t been involved in the game plan throughout the last two weeks. The Ravens beat the Bills during Week 4 on Sunday Night Football 35-10. The two key ingredients for this victory were to play elite defense and establish their elite rushing attack throughout the game.
Ravens QB Lamar Jackson only completed 13 passes for 156 yards and both of his touchdown passes were to his RBs Derrick Henry and Justice Hill. Henry, Jackson and Hill combined to run the ball 34 times for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Hill led the team with six receptions but Nelson Agholor led the WR group in catches with three.
In Week 1, Flowers had 10 receptions and 11 PPR fantasy points and he scored 22 points in Week 2 while being targeted 11 times. Since then, his target amount has decreased each week, receiving only two on Sunday. Flowers scored his single touchdown this season during the Week 3 game against the Cowboys. Flowers is WR42 in PPR leagues right now as he has scored 40 total points this season. Before the season, Flowers had an ADP (Average Draft Position) of No. 62. Flowers was being drafted as WR27 and was going off the board in the sixth round.
The Ravens are 16th in the NFL in passing yards per game, averaging 209. When Baltimore is at its best, it is a run-first team and hasn’t been friendly toward fantasy WR production in the past. The Ravens lost both of their first two games of the season when they tried to be a pass-heavy team. Until coach John Harbaugh shows a willingness to make the passing game a priority, Flowers is a borderline flex start in fantasy football. Jackson has had plenty of success by not forcing the ball to his WRs and instead exploiting defenses on the ground.
