NFL Best Bets: Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions Best Prop Bets on Monday Night Football

Week 4 of the NFL season will conclude with another Monday Night doubleheader. This will mark the second of four Monday Nights in which two games will take place this season.

In the first matchup, the Miami Dolphins will take on the Tennessee Titans while the evening finale will be between the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions. The Seahawks enter as +180 underdogs on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook while the Lions are four-point favorites. The over/under for the game sits at 47 points.

The Seahawks are looking to remain undefeated after their 3-0 start while the Lions will look to improve on their 2-1 record. Both teams hold playoff aspirations and there is an argument to be made that this is the toughest matchup either team has faced so far this season. With this matchup set to put the cherry on top of the Week 4 NFL slate, here are four player props I like in the matchup.

Jahmyr Gibbs Over 78.5 Rush & Receiving Yards (-115 odds)

The Lions made a surprising decision in last year’s draft selecting Jahmyr Gibbs with the 12th overall pick. After a successful rookie year in which he tallied 1,261 total yards from scrimmage, Gibbs is seeing even more opportunity in his second season. The Alabama product saw more than 16 touches in just five games last season but has reached this number in all three games so far this year.

Gibbs has eclipsed 78.5 combined rushing and receiving yards in two of the first three games. He recorded 74 total yards in the opening game, 106 yards in Week 2 and 103 yards from scrimmage last week. While he will continue to split opportunities with David Montgomery, Gibbs has recorded more offensive snaps in two of the first three games.

Seattle’s defense has looked impressive this season, allowing the fewest overall yards thus far, but Detroit will be its toughest test. So far the team has matched up with the Broncos, Patriots and Dolphins without Tua Tagovailoa. New England had the greatest success out of its backfield with Rhamondre Stevenson recording 90 yards from scrimmage while Antonio Gibson added 103 yards. Expect Detroit to have a similar style of attack with Gibbs to be at the forefront of things. He will be involved in both the rushing and passing game and should have plenty of opportunity to eclipse 78.5 yards from scrimmage. Expect him to deliver on these opportunities and reach this number for the third consecutive week.

DK Metcalf Over 67.5 Receiving Yards (-115 Odds)

It is quietly a crowded wide receiver room in Seattle. DK Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett make up one of the more impressive groups around the NFL. But through the opening three weeks, it has become clear Metcalf remains the alpha.

Currently, Metcalf leads the Seahawks receivers in all categories with 24 targets, 17 receptions, 262 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver started off the season quietly with just three receptions for 29 yards in the opening week. He has eclipsed 100 yards receiving in each of the last two games, including seeing a whopping 14 targets against the Patriots.

Expect him to carry this momentum into tonight’s game and for Seattle to continue making it a point to get him the football. Metcalf’s combination of size, speed and strength gives him a unique advantage against any one-on-one matchup. Seattle looks its most complete when he serves as the big-play threat who can win any 50/50 ball up for grabs. Expect a few deep shots for Metcalf and for him to be involved in the passing game throughout. Look for the Ole Miss product to continue dominating and have a chance at his third consecutive game recording over 67.5 receiving yards.

Sam LaPorta Over 40.5 Receiving Yards (-115 odds)

There was plenty of hype surrounding Sam LaPorta entering the season. After a rookie year in which he recorded 889 receiving yards and finished third in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting, LaPorta has been off to a quiet start. Injuries have been a part of this as he has battled through a sprained ankle, but LaPorta has still managed to suit up for all three games. In total, he has tallied just eight receptions for 94 yards. He has yet to reach the end zone and has not had more than 45 yards receiving in a game.

The former 34th overall pick is too talented not to break out at some point. He eclipsed 40.5 receiving yards in 10 of the 17 games last year and has reached this number once this season, even amid the struggles. The extra day of rest could be a factor as he inches toward 100%.

Looking at the Seahawks’ defense, they have struggled defending tight ends to start the year. They allowed 109 receiving yards to Hunter Henry and LaPorta is a more talented pass catcher. Expect the Lions to make it a focus to get their young star involved in this matchup and for him to have his best game of the season. LaPorta is due for a breakout and the 40.5 receiving yard margin is too low based on the level of talent he has shown to be.

David Montgomery & Jahmyr Gibbs to Combine for 150+ Rushing Yards (+250 odds)

Expect both David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs to play a role in the Lions’ offensive production. The two have combined for 568 yards from scrimmage through the opening three weeks. Their complementary skill sets provide a unique challenge for opposing teams and, even with the success of Jared Goff, are the heartbeat of the Detroit offense.

The success that New England had in Week 2 is especially noteworthy. The Patriots produced 185 rushing yards, with Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson providing 177 rushing yards themselves. Gibbs and Montgomery are a more talented duo who will also be utilized heavily.

Looking at the past three weeks, the Lions running back duo combined for 131 rushing yards in the opening week, 119 yards in Week 2 and 188 yards last week. Expect Detroit to lean on its rushing attack early and for this to open up the rest of the offense. While Seattle has been a trendy team off to a 3-0 start, it has also yet to be truly tested. If the Lions can jump out to a notable lead, the opportunity will be there for plenty of rush attempts as they look to eat up the clock as well.

Expect both Montgomery and Gibbs to be active in this game and get plenty of action on the ground. The +250 odds are great value based on their number of expected touches, so give them a chance at reaching this number for the second consecutive week.
