Why Zay Flowers should be your Captain’s Pick vs. the Bills

Why Zay Flowers should be your Captain’s Pick vs. the Bills

Sunday Night Football delivers a juicy matchup in Week 4 between the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills. The Ravens are 2.5-point favorites with the over/under set at 46.5. DraftKings has some great single-game Showdown contests available, highlighted by the NFL Showdown $1.25M Sunday Night Showdown [$300K to 1st] (BUF @ BAL). If you’re putting your lineup together for what should be a fantastic finale to a fun Week 4, Zay Flowers ($12,900 as Captain’s Pick) is my top option to build around.

Flowers is the most expensive receiver in this matchup but only the fifth-most expensive player, trailing both starting QBs and RBs. While Josh Allen ($11,000) and Lamar Jackson ($10,800) are safer options and offer high ceilings, playing Flowers as your Captain’s Pick unlocks plenty of salary cap space and can be partnered with Jackson or even both QBs in the flex spots.

Flowers is clearly the go-to target for the Ravens. He drew 10 targets in Week 1 and 11 targets in Week 2. He hauled in 13 passes in those two games for a total of 128 yards and a touchdown.

In Week 3, he only had four targets, but that was mostly due to the game script as the Ravens ran the ball 45 times but only attempted 15 passes while playing with the lead. He still tied for the team lead in targets, so it was just a down game due to game situation.

He should be poised to bounce back against the Bills, who have opened up big leads early against the Jaguars and Dolphins the past two weeks. If the Ravens are forced to throw the ball more, Flowers should be back to a high volume of opportunities. Last week, the Bills gave up 18 catches for 162 yards to opposing receivers against the Jags while Jacksonville tried to rally late.

Back in Week 2, Flowers went off for 22.1 fantasy points, hauling in 7-of-11 targets for a season-high 91 yards and a touchdown against the Raiders. He has a similar ceiling in this matchup against the Bills, which makes him a good option to build around for DFS contests.

If you’re looking to chase Flowers on DraftKings Sportsbook, Flowers is +165 to score a touchdown with the shortest odds of any receiver and is +600 to get to 100 yards receiving.
