Few teams have had a crueler start to the season than the Dolphins. Miami entered the year with high hopes, but a scary injury to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) has derailed one of football’s top offenses. Following lackluster QB play from Skylar Thompson, head coach Mike McDaniel has turned to former Ravens backup Tyler “Snoop” Huntley ($5,500).
Miami may be in a state of uncertainty, but one early-season constant has been De’Von Achane ($7,200). The second-year running back has had a terrific 2024, gaining 323 yards from scrimmage. While backup Raheem Mostert ($5,700) could return from a chest injury this weekend, it’s unlikely the veteran has a full workload in his first game back.
What’s most appealing about Achane is his game-script proof ability as a rusher and a receiver (17 catches this season). While the Dolphins are 2.5-point favorites against the Titans, a game between two teams with a combined one win could go in any direction. Should Tennessee get out to a double-digit lead, there should be plenty of screen passes from Huntley in response.
It’s difficult to trust the Fins without Tua; they mustered up just 205 yards against the Seahawks in Week 3. However, Huntley is an upgrade over Thompson, who threw for just 107. The offense should be marginally better against a significantly weaker opponent on Monday night.
Someone (probably) has to score in this one. Neither offense offers up much confidence, so it makes sense to side with the home team and McDaniel, one of the best play-callers in the game. This doesn’t feel like a pass-heavy game where Tyreek Hill ($8,100) and Jaylen Waddle ($5,900) go off. Expect a heavy dosage of Achane on MNF.
The Play: De’Von Achane anytime touchdown at +140.
