On Saturday, coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Tyler Huntley ($5,500) will get the start on Monday when the Dolphins host the Titans. Huntley joined the team a week ago from Baltimore’s practice squad but will now take over while Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) is on IR and Skylar Thompson (ribs) is also out.
Since there are two games on Monday night, DraftKings has a two-game classic slate, highlighted by the NFL $1.5M Monday Special [$500K to 1st] (Mon). Huntley is very cheap on that slate and could be the key to success, especially if you partner him with the Dolphins’ receivers. Stacking Huntley with Tyreek Hill ($7,900) and Jaylen Waddle ($5,800) is a good way to get strong correlation and a very high ceiling.
Huntley started in Week 17 of last year, completing 15-of-28 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown while adding 40 rushing yards in a loss to the Steelers. He started four games in 2022, going 2-2 with an average of 117.8 passing yards and 24 rushing yards per game. In that stretch, he threw two touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Dolphins are 1.5-point favorites in his Dolphins’ debut and Huntley is +290 to run for a touchdown. The Titans have allowed an average of 157 passing yards per game and have given up two QB touchdowns in each of the last two weeks. Malik Willis went wild against them last week, and Huntley will look to exploit that same matchup this week.
The Dolphins have lost two straight since their season-opening win over the Jaguars, but they’ll hope making the move to Huntley gets them back on track. Since Thompson struggled in last week’s loss, it’s also conceivable that Snoop could play well enough to keep the job until Tua returns, which would make him an interesting pickup for two-QB leagues since we have seen how effective McDaniel’s offense can be with a solid QB at the helm.
