SEPTEMBER 29: Kamara is planning to play vs. the Falcons, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Kamara ($7,600) has gotten off to a fast start this season, but a tough test awaits him in Atlanta. The Falcons are giving up the fourth-fewest DK fantasy points to opposing running backs. Coming off of multiple injuries, AK41 might be a tough play in most DFS contests.
Alvin Kamara has been the second-best running back in all of fantasy football through the first three weeks of the season with a massive Week 2 performance against the Cowboys, almost single-handedly winning the week. His availability for Week 4 is uncertain, though, after he was tagged as questionable on Friday afternoon.
Kamara was able to finish the Saints’ loss in Week 2 and had a huge workload with 26 carries and three catches. He was limited in practice this week due to hip and rib injuries coming out of that contest. He sat out entirely on Wednesday but was able to return to limited practice on Thursday.
Jamaal Williams ($4,400) and Jordan Mims ($4,000) are next on the depth chart if Kamara is limited or out. Williams had larger workloads in Week 1 and 2 but was barely involved at all in Week 3 even though Taysom Hill ($3,800; chest) was sidelined for that game.
If Kamara is out, Williams and Hill would probably carry most of the workload while Mims could also mix in with a few carries. Promising second-year running back Kendre Miller (hamstring) will likely play ahead of Mims and Williams when he returns, but he’s not eligible to return until Week 5.
Whoever gets the carries for the Saints will be in a tough matchup this week, since the Falcons have allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs and have not allowed a running back touchdown yet this season.
The Saints are 2.5-point underdogs as they head to Atlanta for Sunday afternoon, but be sure to check back on the status of Kamara before kickoff.
