There is a lot to like about Carson Steele scoring a touchdown in Week 4 against the Chargers. For starters, the Chiefs are -7 point favorites (as of Thursday 9/26) on the road. QB Justin Herbert is hoping to play despite having an ankle injury that severely limited him in Week 3 against the Steelers. Even worse for Herbert, both Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater are not expected to play. Protecting Herbert is going to be difficult, if he does indeed play. Regardless of who is slinging the ball for the Chargers, they’ll have a lot of difficulty doing so.

This opens up the door for a potential blowout by the Chiefs. With Isiah Pacheco out for an undisclosed amount of time, Steele is expected to continue operating as their top running back option. In his first week in this role, Steele handled 17 carries for 72 yards. What was most promising, was that not only did he take 61% of the Chiefs carries, he also handled all the red zone carries. The Chargers have yet to allow a rushing touchdown, but opposing backs are averaging 4.2 YPC against them so far. If this game gets out of hand, which it very well may, Steele should reach the end zone. As an RB1, getting plus money on him to score is the cherry on top.
