Will Devin Singletary score a touchdown on Thursday Night Football?

The Cowboys and Giants renew an historic rivalry on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 4. Dallas is the heavy favorite (-6 on DraftKings Sportsbook) even with a 1-2 record.

New York might have lost Saquon Barkley ($8,000) this offseason, but replacement Devin Singletary ($5,900) has done an admirable job filling in. This season, the former Bills running back has gained 255 yards from scrimmage, good enough for 24th in the NFL.

The Giants are clear underdogs; quarterback Daniel Jones ($5,200) is 1-7 lifetime against the ‘Boys. However, the offense has shown signs of life since a dismal opening game. New York has scored six touchdowns in the past two weeks, a welcome change for a team that settled for field goals far too often in 2023.

While the Cowboys have dominated this matchup in recent years, there’s cause for concern. The Saints and Ravens destroyed Dallas’ defense in Week 2 and Week 3, putting up a combined 72 points. The Giants can’t match that level of firepower, but head coach Brian Daboll is sure to exploit one of the NFL’s worst run defenses (30th in rush yards allowed). Given Jones’ dual-threat abilities, expect plenty of read options to throw off Big D on Thursday night.

On paper, New York’s status as big ‘dogs, even at home, is worrying. However, when a unit like Dallas’ defensive line has done such a poor job containing the ground game, it’s wishful thinking to expect drastic changes on a short week. The Giants’ passing game with Malik Nabers ($6,800) will demand far more attention than it has in years past; if a new-look offensive line can do its job, scoring 20-plus points shouldn’t be a struggle.

Singletary’s skill as a pass-catcher ensures that even if New York trails by double-digits, he’ll remain on the field barring a total blowout. Dallas has been vulnerable to screen passes, allowing running backs to gain 154 receiving yards this season.

The Giants’ offense is a three-man show, with Nabers, wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson ($4,600) and Singletary getting the lion’s share of touches. If anyone’s scoring a touchdown on Big Blue, it’s probably one of them. A large spread might scare some away, but I’ll gladly play any back to reach the end zone against a team that’s shown no ability to stuff the run.

You can currently bet on a Devin Singletary anytime touchdown for -105 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
