DraftKings Showdown Value Picks
Jalen Tolbert ($5,800)
There’s been much talk about who will be the top target in Dallas opposite CeeDee Lamb ($11,800). 2022 third-round pick Jalen Tolbert has struggled to get snaps since being drafted, but has the talent to be the Cowboys WR2 of the future.
A stud at South Alabama, the slender 6’1 wideout was the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year in 2021. The group of five to pro transition can understandably take some time, but now, in his third season, he’s proving that he belongs.
He trails only Lamb on the team in the significant recieving categories and scored a crucial touchdown in the club’s failed comeback against Baltimore. Tolbert is a crisp route runner with tremendous footwork and a great pair of hands. He’s a tremendous vertical threat, and despite facing an underrated New York defensive unit, he can eat them alive underneath or burn them deep for a massive gain.
Wan’Dale Robinson ($4,800)
Wan’Dale Robinson was taken one round before Tolbert, much to the chagrin of the Giants faithful. Taking a slot receiver at 43rd overall is a risk from the jump, especially when he only had one year of solid production in college. After floundering at Nebraska, Robinson transferred to Kentucky, earning second-team All-SEC honors after a dominant campaign for the Wildcats.
After an invisible rookie season, Robinson came on late last year as a shifty security valve underneath who can make plays after the catch. He has shades of Danny Amendola—a technical route runner underneath who isn’t afraid to work the middle of the field.
Daniel Jones ($9,400) has tried to be less reckless with the football, which has led to Robinson being featured as a prominent member of the offense, receiving 24 targets across the first three weeks. With Jourdan Lewis struggling at nickelback for Dallas, Robinson is a high-ceiling flier.
KaVontae Turpin ($4,000)
It took stops at an indoor league, a 7-on-7 league, and in the USFL before KaVontae Turpin finally made it in the NFL. Primarily a special teams ace, Turpin has started to get some burn as a gadget playmaker/pass catcher and has begun to turn some heads.
His track speed and video game agility make him deadly in space, and he’s best with the ball in his hands. It’s difficult to say how much of a role he can carve out for himself within the Cowboys offense, but it’s a side that has struggled with creativity and getting easy yards. Watch out for Turpin to leave his mark in a rivalry game where both teams should empty the playbooks.
