Sam LaPorta Injury Updates: Lions TE considered day-to-day

Updated:

By: DK.Network.Editors

Monday, September 23rd – Lions’ HC Dan Campbell told the media Monday that LaPorta is considered day-to-day with his sprained ankle. Given this, it feels likely that LaPorta will be ready to go for the Lions’ Week 4 matchup vs. the Seahawks next Monday night. Seattle has been a stout defense this season, but they have allowed the fourth most receptions and yards to tight ends this season, so this is a solid spot for LaPorta, barring he sees any serious limitations due to the sprained ankle. – Alex Hunter

8:00 p.m. ET – After the game, head coach Dan Campbell said that LaPorta suffered a sprained ankle. There’s been no mention of the severity of it or if he will miss any time.

6:27 p.m. ET – The Detroit Lions officially designated LaPorta as questionable, but then he returned to the game.

6:15 p.m. ET – LaPorta appears to be hurting and limped off the field after one play.

6:05 p.m. ET – LaPorta was back on the bench after halftime and is ready to return to the game. He never got an official designation, but it will be interesting to see if he’s limited at all in the second half.

5:50 p.m. ET – The Lions scored on a nifty hook-and-ladder play just before halftime of their game in Arizona, but they may have lost TE Sam LaPorta on the play.

After the touchdown but before the halftime break, LaPorta was driven to the locker room on a cart with an unspecified injury. If you watch the touchdown, LaPorta is down the field blocking by the goal line just as Gibbs scores the touchdown. His leg is rolled up on by the defender trying to bring Gibbs down.

Before leaving the game, LaPorta caught both of his two targets for 36 yards. If he’s out, Brock Wright ($2,500) would be the team’s top tight end while WRs Amon-Ra St. Brown ($8,200) and Jameson Williams ($5,800) would get more targets as well.

We’ll provide further updates on LaPorta’s injury here.
