NFL Best Bets: Chiefs vs. Falcons Best Prop Bets on Sunday Night Football

Updated:

By: Sean Barnard

The Atlanta Falcons will be looking to ride the momentum of their game-winning drive on Monday Night Football in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles. A surgical two-minute drill from Kirk Cousins provided Atlanta with their first win, and they will now face off with the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Injuries are already a major factor for the Chiefs. Both Isiah Pacheco and Hollywood Brown landed on IR, and will miss extended time. There is a growing buzz for this Sunday Night Football matchup, now. The Falcons have a chance to show the world they were deserving of the hype leading into the season.

The Chiefs enter the matchup as three-point favorites on the spread on DraftKings Sportsbook. Atlanta is +140 on the moneyline while the game total sits at 46.5 points. Looking beyond the game result, here are five player props I like for the Week 3 primetime matchup.

Bijan Robinson Over 4.5 Receptions (+100)

Now in his second season in the NFL, Bijan Robinson continues to show flashes of one of the most talented offensive players in the league. Through the opening two weeks, he has tallied 233 yards from scrimmage—more than double any other Falcons’ skill position player.

Looking at this week’s matchup, expect Robinson to make his impact felt in the passing game. The Texas product tallied four receptions for 25 yards in the opening game and five catches for 43 yards last week.

Kansas City has one of the most dynamic offenses in the league and are capable of blowing a game open on any given week. With this in mind, don’t be surprised if the Falcons end up having to play from behind in this matchup. Robinson is the most dangerous offensive weapon on the roster and the Falcons should be doing everything possible to put the ball in his hands.

Look for him to produce his second consecutive performance with five or more receptions and for Robinson to put his fingerprints on the game. He will be in the range to reach this with the normal game script and may only be aided in reaching this total if the Falcons fall behind.

Travis Kelce Anytime TD (+140)

It is Travis Kelce’s world and we are all just living in it. While this has seemed to be true throughout the summer, Kelce has been surprisingly quiet to start the season. In total, he has recorded just four receptions for 39 yards and has yet to make it in the end zone. There have been several plays in which Kelce has been used as more of a decoy within the Chiefs offense.

Look for this to change in Week 3 and for Kelce to make his way into the end zone for the first time. He has recorded 10 or more touchdowns in three of the last six seasons and has made a career being Mahomes number-one option in the red zone. He may not be at the peak of his career but Kelce is still plenty capable.

Especially without Pacheco and Brown, Kelce will be necessary for the offensive production. Look for him to deliver and take advantage of the +140 odds tonight before this number shifts in the weeks moving forward.

Xavier Worthy Over 42.5 Rush & Receiving Yards (-115)

The Chiefs added to their arsenal of offensive talents by spending the 28th overall pick in last year’s draft on Xavier Worthy. The Texas product is a big-play threat every time the ball is in his hands. He can clear this 42.5 number in just one touch. While his receiving yards number of 38.5 also has some appeal, the Chiefs are creative in the ways they get him the ball. Opt into the combined rushing and receiving yards for a little extra security.

Worthy has tallied 90 yards from scrimmage and a pair of touchdowns so far this season. In the opening week, Worthy had a pair of catches for 17 yards and one carry for five yards. He followed this up with 47 receiving yards and 21 rushing yards in Week 2.

Expect Worthy to build off this performance and continue climbing up the pecking order of the Kansas City offense. He has game-changing speed that will be unleashed for at least one big play attempt during the matchup. Expect Worthy to deliver on this opportunity and eclipse 42.5 yards from scrimmage in his third NFL performance.

Carson Steele Over 61.5 Rush & Receiving Yards (-115)

The injury to Isiah Pacheco has left the Kansas City backfield in a position of uncertainty. While the team brought back Kareem Hunt on a practice squad deal this week, he will not make an impact this week. Instead, it will be rookie Carson Steele with the inside track for the majority of touches.

After spending time at Ball State and UCLA in college, Steele was picked up by the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent. He has quickly become well-liked within the organization and Andy Reid has been plenty complimentary of the 21-year-old.

On the field he has tallied just nine carries for 27 yards, but he will see an uptick in action this week. Sometimes opportunity is more important than talent level Tthis is a situation in which Steele can be the beneficiary of the additional chances. Kansas City will need to generate some sort of rushing game, and Steele will be asked to fill this role. Look for him to receive in the ballpark of 15 touches in the game. The rookie will be able to convert this into more than 61.5 yards from scrimmage.

Bijan Robinson & Rashee Rice & Darnell Mooney to Combine for 4+ TDs (+700)

Swinging a bit more for the fences with this pick. But, someone has to be responsible for the points added in this game. Bijan Robinson has yet to score his first touchdown on the season. And yet, he continues to be the team’s most dynamic offensive player. He leads all players with -120 odds for an anytime touchdown in this game. Look for him to produce his first score of the season and don’t be surprised if he can tally two touchdowns which holds +475 odds.

After recording seven touchdowns in his rookie season, Rashee Rice has looked like the clear-cut top wide receiver to start this season. He leads the Chiefs with 15 targets on the season, with no other member of the wide receiver group having more than seven passes thrown their direction. Rice is an intriguing combination of holding big play potential while also being a capable red zone receiver. He is responsible for one-third of the receiving touchdowns this season for Kansas City and can add to this total in primetime.

While he may not see as many consistent opportunities as the other two players referenced, Darnell Mooney is worth including in this. Mooney has one receiving touchdown on the season despite only catching four of the ten targets thrown his direction. He also is leading the team with 109 total receiving yards. The former Bears’ standout is tied with Drake London and Bijan Robinson for targets on the season. Expect him to be involved in the offense and have a chance of getting in the end zone again this week.

This is a bit of a big swing, but all three of these players are capable of delivering for their team. Bet responsibly considering the odds, but expect the offenses to both have some success in this matchup and for these three players to play a key role in it.
