Justice Hill Start or Sit: Week 3 Fantasy Football Advice

Two contenders in disarray meet in Dallas when the Ravens visit the Cowboys. Baltimore enters the contest as slight one-point favorites, hinting at a tense affair between two clubs that need a Week 3 victory.

Justice Hill ($4,900) isn’t the kind of player most fantasy managers are even considering at this point in the season. However, those in a deeper league or those saddled with injury-depleted rosters need to consider every available option.

Despite rushing the ball once for three yards against the Chiefs, Hill’s six catches for 52 yards made him a waiver wire target after Week 1. That didn’t translate to much last week against the Raiders, when the Ravens’ backup gained just 32 total yards. With Derrick Henry ($6,500) controlling the backfield, Hill’s involvement in John Harbaugh’s offense will be difficult to predict.

Hill’s inconsistency isn’t a death sentence for fantasy purposes, although he’s far more attractive as a Henry handcuff in season-long formats. A receiving back for Lamar Jackson ($7,500) is nothing to sneeze at, but placing him in a lineup is a matchup-dependent move.

The Cowboys’ defense has given up eight catches to running backs this season, but they were all to starters: Cleveland’s Jerome Ford ($5,800) and New Orleans’ Alvin Kamara ($7,500). For Hill to get a decent workload, Baltimore would need to be forced into obvious passing situations. Since 2020, the Ravens are an NFL-best 16-8-1 against the spread in games played following a loss. History suggests a get-right game is in order for a Super Bowl-caliber squad.

Unlike with most running backs, Hill’s value is at its highest when the Ravens face an equal, or tougher, opponent. While a 47.5 point total suggests there will be lots of offense, managers in 12-team or fewer leagues should find a better flex option.

If you like Dallas to lead for most of the game, Hill at $4,900 has value in DFS contests, including the NFL $3.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st].

Hill is +425 to score a touchdown, +425 to go over 25 rushing yards and +215 to go over 25 receiving yards.
