DeVonta Smith Live Injury Updates

Updated:

By: Sean Barnard

UPDATE: Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of the game with a concussion. The wideout will finish with seven catches for 79 yards, resulting in 14.9 FPTS. With A.J. Brown (hamstring) also inactive, expect Parris Campbell and Jahah Dotson to see more usage for the Eagles. – Alex Hunter

Just over a minute into the fourth quarter of today’s Eagles game against the Saints, DeVonta Smith took a brutal hit to the head which forced him out of the game.

Smith recorded a six-yard reception on a pass from Jalen Hurts on the play. After securing the catch and being held up by the Saints’ secondary, Smith was hit on from behind by Saints DT Khristian Boyd. Smith’s helmet popped off on the play, and he laid on his back for a few minutes before returning to his feet.

Smith was helped off the field by trainers and spent a brief time in the medical tent before walking back to the locker room. The Eagles are already without top pass-catcher A.J. Brown as he missed his second consecutive week with a hamstring injury.

Saquon Barkley took the following play for a 65-yard touchdown to give the Eagles a 7-3 lead. Philadelphia will continue to battle without their top two wide receivers.

We’ll provide further updates on Smith’s injury here.
