Picks, Best Bets for Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois

Picks, Best Bets for Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois

Published:

By: Ryan Wohl

One of the biggest faces of the UK boxing scene, Anthony Joshua, returns to his home country on Saturday to face fellow Englishman Daniel Dubois for his IBF World Heavyweight title. The main card will air live on DAZN PPV at 11 a.m. ET, with the Main Event expecting to make their ring walk at 6 p.m. ET. This is one of the biggest boxing events in England and is taking place at the iconic Wembley Stadium, with over 96,000 people expected to be in attendance. This event is presented by Riyadh Season and Turki Alalshikh.

Joshua is looking to become the sixth three-time Heavyweight boxing champion. The previous five fighters to accomplish that are Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Vitali Klitschko, and Michael Moorer. The winner of this main event will likely fight the winner of December’s massive rematch between champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

Here are my three best bets for the highly anticipated boxing card taking place tomorrow in London, England.

Anthony Joshua to Win in 1-6 Rounds (+200)

AJ is a -425 favorite on the money line, while Dubois is the +320 underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. That value isn’t great so let’s take a look at Joshua to win during the first six rounds. Joshua has a TKO/KO in four of his previous five fights while finishing his opponent before the sixth round in his past two bouts. Dubois only has two losses in his career, but both of them have come by way of a stoppage.

Joshua is on a mission to get a shot at the winner of the unified heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. Although Dubois has looked great recently, it is more than likely that AJ will make him look average. Dubois is the bigger fighter, he has a four-inch reach advantage (82″ vs. 78″) and is an inch taller (6-foot-six vs. 6-foot-five).

With that said Joshua is the better all-around boxer. He has more power, better cardio, and more experience in these massive stadium fights. AJ is currently -425 on the moneyline to win this fight. Unlike earlier in Joshua’s career, lately, he has shown a newfound aggressiveness and willingness to get his opponent out of there early.

Joshua Buatsi Moneyline (-270)

Buatsi, the 31-year-old is a talented fighter who is 18-0 with 13 knockouts. Buatsi has a height advantage (6-foot-two vs. 6-foot-one) and is bigger in the reach department (74.5″ vs. 67″) as well. Both fighters use the orthodox style and Buatsi is five years older than Willy Hutchinson who is 26 years old.

Buatsi and Hutchinson share a common recent opponent, Craig Richards, who they both defeated by unanimous decision. Hutchinson fought Richards in his last fight in June, only three months ago. Hutchinson won by a more narrow decision 117-111, 16-112, and 119-109. Buatsi fought Richards three fights ago in 2022 and it was a lot closer- 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113.

I believe the biggest factor will be the size difference in this matchup. If Buatsi keeps Hutchinson at range and controls the pace of the fight he is in a good spot to get the victory. Buatsi is the -270 favorite in this matchup while Hutchinson is +215.

Hamzah Sheeraz to Win in 1-6 Rounds (+135)

Sheeraz is 20-0 with 16 wins by knockout and has finished his last nine opponents. Six of his previous nine victories have come in the first six rounds of the fight. Sheeraz is a vicious puncher and has been working his way to a title shot. BoxRec currently ranks Sheeraz as the No. 3 best middleweight in the world.

Although Sheeraz’s last win came in the 11th round against Austin Williams in June, his previous five fights ended before round seven. Sheeraz is -800 on the moneyline to win this fight on DraftKings Sportsbook. Sheeraz will likely get his opponent Tyler Denny out of there early due to a huge four-inch size advantage. Sheeraz is one of the best knockout artists in boxing today and with another huge finish, a world title fight could be shortly.
