If Kenneth Walker III sits, is Zach Charbonnet an RB1 in Week 3?

The Seahawks listed Kenneth Walker III ($6,300) as doubtful for Week 3 when they host the Dolphins, which sets Zach Charbonnet ($6,000) up as a workhorse back in a fantasy-friendly matchup.

Charbonnet started in place of Walker last week in New England and put up 17.9 fantasy points. He only had 38 rushing yards on 14 carries, but he did have a rushing touchdown and also added 31 receiving yards by hauling in all five of his targets.

In that overtime win, Charbonnet played 96% of the Seahawks’ offensive snaps with Kenny McIntosh ($4,300) playing two snaps, but not getting a touch or target.

If Walker is out, as expected, Charbonnet will be the primary back again in a matchup with the Dolphins, who have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. James Cook had three total touchdowns against Miami last Thursday, so there’s definitely upside in playing Charbonnet in the same matchup this week.

While he does have touchdown-dependent upside, his underwhelming yardage total last week doesn’t quite put him in the RB1 category for me. I see him much more as a strong RB2, as indicated by my RB Rankings this week, where I slotted Charbonnet at No. 21.

The Seahawks are looking to improve to 3-0 as they host the Dolphins, who will be starting Sklyar Thompson ($5,100) at QB. Based on the absence of Tua Tagovailoa, the Seahawks are 4.5-point home favorites against the Dolphins while Charbonnet is -145 to score a touchdown, the shortest odds of any player in this matchup.
