If you own Zamir White in a league, I know this is going to seem like a crazy thing to say, but there were some legitimate reasons to be optimistic about the RB’s value in Week 2. I swear. I’m not joking. That would be cruel.
While White only finished with nine carries for 24 yards against the Ravens, the 25-year-old did end up with a massive 63.5% snap share, out-snapping teammate Alexander Mattison 40-to-14. For context, that snap rate placed White just outside the top 10 at his position for Week 2. So, somehow, volume isn’t necessarily going to be an issue moving forward.
Offensive environment and game-script might not be an issue, either. Well, at least for Week 3. Everyone say hello to the Carolina Panthers!
The Panthers have quickly re-cemented themselves as the worst team in the NFL and, as a direct result of that status, they’ve become a dream matchup for fantasy owners — particularly for running backs. Due to its complete inability to hold a lead, Carolina’s opponents often find themselves in an extremely positive script, otherwise known as the perfect time to keep the ball on the ground. Through two games, teams are running the ball an average of 40.5 times against the Panthers, good for the second-most in football. Carolina is also surrendering 199.5 opponent rushing yards and 1.5 opponent rushing touchdowns per contest. Gross.
If White’s going to be on the field for 60% of the Raiders’ snaps this Sunday, he’s going rack up fantasy points through sheer osmosis. It’s been an underwhelming ride so far, but Week 3 definitely isn’t the time to quit on White.
