On Tuesday afternoon, WWE announced that for the first time since July 2008 ‘Saturday’s Main Event’ is making a return on December 14 at 8 p.m. ET in Long Island, NY at the Nassau Coliseum. This event will air every quarter after WWE inked a new five-year contract with NBCUniversal.
The first edition of ‘Saturday Night’s Main Event’ was held in May 1985 at the Nassau Coliseum, the same building where it will be held this year. The show was a regular part of WWE programming from 1985 until 1992. WWE brought the show back in 2006 and had five episodes before its final showing in 2008. In the past, this event would not air live, but that isn’t the case for the show’s return. This year, that is the case and ‘Saturday Night’s Main Event’ will be airing live on both NBC and Peacock.
In the poster that WWE released to announce the event, Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes is front and center with former champions’ Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins surrounding him. WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and one-half of the women’s tag-team champions, Bianca Belair, are also featured on the poster.
WWE COO Triple H said on his Twitter, “Your Saturday obsession is back in a big way.”
