The Cubs may be out of the playoff race, but they put on a show for the Wrigley faithful on Monday night. The offense racked up nine runs on 18 hits while the pitching was excellent, limiting the Athletics to two runs on nine hits.
Shota Imanaga ($9,300; 30.7 FPTS) was brilliant, striking out 11 in six innings. The 11 strikeouts were a career-high and he’s now racked up double-digit strikeouts in three starts.
He did walk three and allowed two earned runs on five hits. The only blemish was a two-run home run by Brent Rooker ($5,500; 19 FPTS) in the third inning.
The Cubs had seven players with multi-hit nights.
Seiya Suzuki ($5,000; 11 FPTS), Isaac Paredes ($4,100; 13 FPTS) and Miguel Amaya ($3,000; 20 FPTS) all had three hits. Amaya and Paredes also had two RBI.
The big blow came off the bat of Dansby Swanson ($4,000; 23 FPTS), as he sent a 0-1 pitch into the left field seats for a three-run blast.
In the $100k Relay Throw tournament, Imanaga was rostered on 30.8% of teams, the third-most rostered pitcher. Swanson was on 13.2%, Paredes on 7.6% and Suzuki was on 7.4%. Rooker was on 6.1%.
