Week 2 will conclude with a really good matchup between the Falcons and Eagles. This showdown matchup will feature a $2.25M Monday Night Millionaire contest, which you can play on DraftKings. I’ll give some of my picks and strategy for this slate and hopefully get your lineup to cash. Let’s get into the picks!

Captain’s Picks
Bijan Robinson ($15,600 CP): Maybe the majority of us are overreacting to the performance we saw from the Falcons offense last week. I mean, there wasn’t much to feel good about. Robinson, however, was one of the lone bright spots. He matched his career-high with 23 touches last week and going for 111 total yards. The Eagles struggled to stop Josh Jacobs last week, as he went for 104 total yards on 18 touches. It also looked as if any split with Tyler Allgeier is over, as Robinson played on 91% of the offensive snaps, a new career-high.
With the shaky quarterback play from Kirk Cousins in Week 1, Robinson feels like one of the only trustworthy plays for the Falcons. Don’t forget, we’re also getting Cousins in primetime, which has not been his strong point. It’s a big sample size, as Cousins is 12-20 in primetime games. Dumping the ball off to Robinson along with taking the bellcow role in the backfield feels like it’s a path for Robinson to be the top captain option on this slate.
This is going to be a very top-heavy selection for this Falcons and Eagles game. Personally, I’m ranking Robinson slightly over Barkley. I think people will automatically gravitate toward Barkley after what we saw last week in his Eagles debut. While I think he’ll also have a good game, I think Robinson is the correct captain play amongst the two.
UTIL Plays
DeVonta Smith ($8,800): With the news that A.J. Brown will miss this game, we have Smith priced as a WR2 in a WR1 role. Smith was busy already last week, even with Brown active. He was targeted eight time, catching seven for 84 yards. It’s very realistic for Smith to approach or even exceed double-digit targets in this game against what’s looking like a beatable Falcons secondary.
If Smith stays mainly in the slot, he’ll avoid CB AJ Terrell, who rarely covers slot receivers. He didn’t do so in Week 1 and in 2023, only did so on 30 of his 1065 snaps. It’s likely that Jahan Dotson, who’ll see the biggest increase in snaps, could see the Terrell treatment. Smith has the big play upside to be a slate breaking player in your lineup. On targets of over 20 yards, Smith caught 11-of-25 for 404 yards and 4 TD.
Saquon Barkley ($10,600): He’s the most expensive player on this slate but it could be worth it. Barkley’s debut for the Eagles couldn’t have been better, logging 132 total yards, three touchdowns and 36.2 DKFP. He completely dismantled the Packers’ run defense and made it look easy. The Falcons allowed 91 rushing yards and 46 receiving yards to the Steelers last week, paving the way for another big Barkley game. Barkley was so effecient last week, he averaged almost four yards per carry after contact and logged three carries over 10 yards. Barkely quickly took the lead in red zone carries amongst all backs in the league, taking eight of them and averaging 4.1 yards per attempt.
Ray-Ray McCloud ($3,000): I never imagined myself writing up McCloud in an article, even if it was Showdown. But, give the man some credit, he balled out in Week 1. McCloud drew seven targets and made four catches for 52 yards and 9.2 DKFP. Despite only plays on 30 snaps, he ran a route on 80% of them and split out wide and in the slot. McCloud also had an aDOT of 12 on his six targets. He’s a fair value play on this slate that’ll be thin of options. I don’t know what the weekly plan will be for McCloud, but if he’s getting a handful of targets per game, $3,000 could be a steal.
Fades
Drake London ($7,800): This is a reasonable price for the WR1 in Atlanta, if we’re being quite honest. It’s not often you can roster a WR1 at this price point. However, it still feels a bit risky. It doesn’t make me feel good that he only saw three targets from Cousins and was only able to turn that into two catches for 15 yards. London should see a bunch of CB Darius Slay in coverage during this game. Last season in coverage, Slay was targeted against 84 times allowed 54 catches (64%) and 11.4 YPR and two touchdowns.
