After being named the Steelers’ starting QB for Week 1, Wilson ($5,400) started missing time in practice with a nagging calf issue. He was ultimately unable to play in the season opener against the Falcons.
On Saturday morning, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that he is not expected to play in Week 2 either.
The Steelers officially listed Wilson as questionable, but coach Mike Tomlin indicated that even if he is available, it’s even less likely that he would start. It ruins what could be a great revenge narrative for Russ against the Broncos, but it looks like he’ll be sidelined another week.
In his place last week, Justin Fields ($5,400) led the Steelers to a nice win on the road against the Falcons. He finished with 11.9 fantasy points on 156 passing yards and 57 rushing yards on 14 carries. His willingness to run the ball gives him a high ceiling if he can get the offense into the end zone this week.
In Week 1, the Broncos lost in Seattle, allowing Geno Smith to put up 18.8 fantasy points with a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown. Fields typically runs more than Smith, so he could end up as a great value on Sunday. He’s a good value DFS option to consider in this week’s contests, including the NFL $3.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st].
On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Steelers are 2.5-point road favorites, and Fields is +215 to score an anytime touchdown.
