Yankees OF Aaron Judge delivers final verdict vs. Red Sox

Yankees. Red Sox. One of the great MLB rivalries. Boston is no threat to toppling the Yankee empire this season, but the games always have a splash of intensity and dramatic moments often appear like a marauder in the night. Friday night’s matchup was no different.

The game was scoreless through five innings, as both pitchers were able to neutralize the opposing offenses.

Richard Fitts ($7,100; 12.25) only struck out two, but he gave the Yankees batters fits all night. He walked three, but did not allow an earned run on two hits.

Clarke Schmidt ($8,200; 15.15 FPTS) matched him inning for inning, striking out five and walking only one through five innings. In the sixth inning, though, he allowed a two-run home run to Masataka Yoshida ($4,000; 19 FPTS).

In the following inning, Trevor Story ($3,400; 19 FPTS) also hit a two-run homer and the Red Sox were lavishing in their spoiler role.

That was Story’s first home run since September of last year.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, though….

Anthony Volpe ($4,000; 4 FPTS) drew a walk. Alex Verdugo ($3,200; 4 FPTS) also walked. Gleyber Torres ($3,800; 7 FPTS) singled in Volpe, then Juan Soto ($6,500; 4 FPTS) drew a walk to load the bases.

On a 2-0 count, Aaron Judge ($6,800; 25 FPTS) sent a pitch into the left field seats for the grand slam and eventual winning runs.

It was Judge’s first home run since August 25th. He now has 52 home runs on the season with 111 runs and 130 RBI. He’s slashing .319/.453/.683 with a ridiculous .364 ISO.

Prior to Friday’s head-to-head matchup, the teams had played 10 games, with each side winning five, but three of those wins for Boston came in June and July. The Yankees have now won the last four meetings.
