Picks for New Orleans Saints vs. Dallas Cowboys: NFL Best Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook

Two 1-0 NFC teams face off in Week 2 as the Dallas Cowboys host the New Orleans Saints. Here is how to bet on the game at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Saints (+6) vs. Cowboys o/u 46.5

Saints Team Breakdown

The Saints were among the best teams in Week 1 against the Panthers. The Saints looked great on both sides of the ball, but time will tell if the Saints were good or the Panthers were really bad. Derek Carr looked sharp and utilized many different weapons, but Carr has been very inconsistent throughout his career. He will have a game where he looks great and struggles the next week. That is certainly possible this week against a Cowboys defense that is much better than the Panthers’ defense.

I was a bit down on the Saints entering the season, but they proved me wrong in Week 1. This game will be much more telling about where they stand. The Panthers looked disastrous and would have been rolled by most NFL teams the way they played. This game will be a great test for the Saints on both sides of the ball.

Cowboys Team Breakdown

The Cowboys’ defense was No. 1 in the NFL in opponent success rate in Week 1. Their pass rush got after Deshaun Watson and forced him to rush things. They also covered well on the back end, giving up nothing through the air. The Cowboys should also get after Derek Carr and force some mistakes out of the Saints’ offense.

Offensively, the Cowboys didn’t need to do much. Their defense was so dominant that the offense was set up with a good field position, which could be called a conservative game. However, Dak Prescott looked sharp in the first half when they needed him to make some throws to CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. This was also the best offense in the NFL last season when they played at home. They scored 36.8 PPG at home last season and should be able to replicate that success this season.

Pick and Prediction

The Cowboys were the best team in the NFL on offense at home last season and were great as favorites. Overall, Dak Prescott is 50-37 (58%) ATS as a favorite in his career. The Cowboys’ offense is great at running up the score once they have a lead, and even more importantly, the Cowboys’ defense is much better when they know the opposing offense has to be aggressive to catch up. If the Cowboys can jump out to an early lead, they could really lay the hammer down and pull away in this game.

The Saints weren’t tested in Week 1, but they have many issues on the offensive line that Micah Parsons and co. will exploit in this game. The Cowboys will be able to take away Chris Olave and force Derek Carr to make some tough throws. The Cowboys’ offense should be very comfortable in their own building, forcing the Saints’ offense to play catch-up, where they could struggle. Therefore, I will be laying the points with Dallas against the Saints.

Best Bet: Cowboys -6
