Most players struggle in their first stint at the major league level, but this has been a successful rookie season for Mitchell Parker ($6,800; 21.85 FPTS). The double-digit K/9 in the minors hasn’t translated, as it’s at 8.07 in 136 innings, but he’s shown good control and hasn’t been hurt by the long ball. The BB/9 is 2.58 and he’s only allowed 17 home runs. The ERA is 4.43, but the FIP is only 3.89.
On Thursday, he once again pitched well, going 6.1 innings, striking out five, not issuing a walk, and shutting out the Marlins on three hits. He threw 76 pitches.
Parker was also staked to a 3-0 lead after one inning after a RBI single and a two-run double by Jose Tena ($2,900; 9 FPTS).
Unfortunately, three errors and three earned runs allowed by the bullpen allowed Miami to walk out with the win.
Connor Norby ($4,200; 8 FPTS) went 0-for-3 but had two RBI, scored a run, and walked. Jonah Bride ($3,500; 9 FPTS) had one hit, two RBI, and also scored a run. Jake Burger ($4,800; 9 FPTS) had three hits and Xavier Edwards ($4,700; 15 FPTS) finished 2-for-2 with a run scored, a double, and a stolen base.
