Let’s take a quick look at some players that not only had big fantasy games for us in NFL Week 1, but also easily cashed some player props on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Josh Allen Rushing Touchdowns
After scoring 15 rushing touchdowns in 2023, Josh Allen’s rushing touchdown season-long player prop for 2024 was set at just 8.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook. While the number seemed modest, repeating Allen’s 2023 seemed like a tall task. Not so fast! Allen wound up finding the end zone twice as a ball carrier in Week 1 versus Arizona. Allen is priced at -115 to score in Week 2 on Thursday night in Miami.
Anthony Richardson Rushing Touchdowns
We only got a glimpse of Richardson as a rookie, playing in four games. However, he reached the end zone as a rusher in each of his first three games, including a multi-score game for four total touchdowns. The only game Richardson did not score is was the game in which he was injured, and ultimately out for the season. Richardson found pay dirt in Week 1, finishing with a 6-56-1 line against Houston. Richardson is +125 to score in Week 2 in Green Bay.
Jayden Daniels Rushing Touchdowns
The No. 2 overall pick in this past NFL Draft appeared to be following in Richardson’s footsteps in his NFL debut. Daniels, who ran for over 3,300 yards in college, showed no fear as a rusher in Week 1. Daniels carried 16 times for 88 yards, and reached the end zone twice — smashing his props of 33.5 yards and +260 anytime TD scorer. The rookie also had his season-long rushing prop open at 500.5 yards on DraftKings Sportsbook, and it was bet up to 550.5, so over bettors are off to a terrific start. Daniels is +130 to score against the Giants in Week 2, and +850 to repeat his two-touchdown performance.
J.K. Dobbins Rushing Yards
Bettors didn’t know what to expect from Dobbins in his debut with the Chargers. Dobbins was a sharp bet on the over to his rushing yards in Week 1 with the Ravens last season — I had about 10 yards of closing line value on him, and it turned out to be a loser when he left the game with a torn Achilles. This season, Dobbins had a modest prop of 33.5 rushing yards in Week 1, which he cleared by over 100 yards. While DraftKings Sportsbook didn’t have a season-long rushing prop on Dobbins, if you use other numbers from across the market, he is more than 25% of the way to his over after a single game. Dobbins’ did lead the Chargers’ backfield in snaps in Week 1, but getting just 10 carries is a bit concerning. Dobbins is +125 to score in Carolina in Week 2, and we’re still waiting on his rushing yards prop (as of Wednesday afternoon). Be careful with Dobbins moving forward given his workload and injury history.
Joe Mixon Rushing Yards
Joe Mixon took the field for the first time as a Texan in Week 1, and his new team fed him 33 touches on 57 snaps (out of 79). Bettors at DraftKings Sportsbook believed in him, with his prop rising from 53.5 to 60.5. They were rewarded with a sweat-free winner, and Mixon galloped his way to 159 yards on the ground. Season-long backers also rejoiced, as Mixon is now well on his way to his 850.5 rushing yard total. Mixon and the Texans host the Bears on Sunday Night Football, with Mixon’s rushing yardage set at 66.5, and his touchdown prop priced at -135.
Jayden Reed Receiving Yards
Reed demolished his props in the Friday night game in Brazil, nearly scoring three touchdowns (and the game’s first) if not for a penalty. He wound up producing monster plays both through the air and on the ground, with 171 total yards on five touches. Bettors cashed easy winners on Reed’s touchdown prop and his yardage prop, which bounced around in the 40’s, but closed 43.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook. Another popular play was Reed’s rushing + receiving yardage prop, which was sharp thinking, as Reed’s 33-yard carry is what initially put him over his prop numbers. While Reed is looking like one of the most explosive weapons in the game, bettors and fantasy owners will need to be careful with him for as long as Jordan Love is sidelined. With the Love news still not technically official on Wednesday, not many props are on the board for when the Packers host the Colts.
Cooper Kupp Receiving Yards
Kupp gave us a complete throwback in Week 1 in Detroit, ripping off a 14-110-1 line, and leaving plenty of meat on the bone with 21 total targets. Kupp nearly doubled his receiving prop for the game, which opened 64.5 and was bet to 67.5. Even with a massive adjustment in Kupp’s Week 2 price, it’s going to be tough to argue the under. Kupp has already been bet up to 87.5 yards in Week 2, but with good reason. Kupp will face a dreadful Arizona defense indoors, and will be operating without Puka Nacua (for the next four weeks). Needless to say, Kupp should be a target monster. Backers of his 950.5-yard season-long prop are in tremendous shape if Kupp stays healthy.
