Quarterback
Stud
Garrett Greene, West Virginia at Pittsburgh, $7,800- Pittsburgh has really struggled to defend the pass despite playing two subpar passing offenses, Kent State and Cincinnati. The Panthers are 82nd in the country in total passing defense and 98th in opponent yards per completion. West Virginia played Penn State, one of the best defenses in the country, in Week 1 and Greene struggled. However, he bounced back last week with four total touchdowns and good production through the air and on the ground. Greene should have another strong game against Pitt’s vulnerable defense.
Other Options- Alan Bowman ($8,300), Eli Holstein ($7,300)
Value
LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina vs. LSU, $6,200– LaNorris Sellers showed great improvement from Week 1 to Week 2 despite playing a better opponent. This weekend he will be back at his home stadium and facing one of the worst defenses in the country. LSU’s defense ranks 90th in total defense and 111th in passing defense despite playing an FCS team in one of its two games. Sellers could have a breakout game as a passer against LSU and he should have a great game as a runner no matter what.
Other Option- Kirk Francis ($6,000)
Running Back
Stud
Ollie Gordon II, Oklahoma State at Tulsa, $10,000- Through the first two weeks, I have been reluctant to buy Ollie Gordon because he is so expensive, but this is the week to do it. Oklahoma State played a really hectic game against Arkansas last week and against an inferior opponent this week, it should feed Gordon all game. Gordon only got 17 carries against Arkansas, which is a small number for him, so he should be ready to carry the load this week. The Tulsa run defense is 78th in the country in giving up runs of 10+ yards, so Gordon should be able to burst into the second level and pick up big chunks of yards at a time.
Other Options- Le’Veon Moss ($7,100), Jonah Coleman ($6,800)
Value
Raheim Sanders, South Carolina vs. LSU, $4,900– For the same reason as Sellers, Rocket Sanders is a great buy against the LSU defense. LSU allowed 145 yards and two touchdowns on 5.8 yards per carry to Nicholls’ lead running back last week. Sanders should get fed a huge amount of carries and roll through this LSU defense. Through two weeks, Sanders has forced 17 missed tackles, the best mark in the SEC. This LSU defense doesn’t like to tackle and Sanders should punish them for it.
Other Options- Lloyd Avant ($4,500), Jeremiyah Love ($5,700)
Wide Receiver
Stud
Giles Jackson, Washington vs. Washington State, $6,900- Washington State is 123rd out of 134 FBS teams in passing defense this season. The Huskies are also averaging nearly 300 passing yards per game themselves despite playing inferior opponents where they ran the ball for a big part of the second half. Giles Jackson has 16 catches through the first two games of the season and QB Will Rogers should look to feed him all day in this game.
Other Options- Brennan Presley ($7,100), Theo Wease Jr. ($6,200)
Value
Kamdyn Benjamin, Tulsa vs. Oklahoma State, $5,700- Oklahoma State is dead last, 134th out of 134 FBS teams, in passing defense so far this season. Last week, Tulsa threw for 199 yards and Kamdyn Benjamin caught 131 of them and scored a touchdown. In Week 1, Benjamin had a receiving touchdown and a punt return touchdown. This guy is a freak athlete and should wreak havoc on the Oklahoma State secondary.
Other Option- De’Zhaun Stribling ($5,200)
Flex/Superflex
You can use any of the other names I listed in the above categories for the flex or superflex positions. However, here are a few more names, just in case.
Stud
Tez Johnson, WR, Oregon at Oregon State, $8,500- Johnson had 12 catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 for Oregon. Despite a bad receiving game in Week 2, Johnson added a punt return touchdown to show what he can do. Johnson should have a bounce back receiving game and create some dynamic plays for an Oregon offense that needs to make a statement in this game.
Other Options- John Mateer, QB ($8,900), Jordan James, RB ($8,200)
Value
Devin Mockobee, RB, Purdue vs. Notre Dame ($4,400)- Mockobee had 89 yards on over eight yards per carry in Purdue’s only game of the season so far. The Boilermakers had an incredibly early bye week in Week 2, but that should have them totally fresh for this Notre Dame game. Meanwhile, Notre Dame is coming off an embarrassing loss and could be totally deflated coming into this game. Notre Dame is 101st in rushing defense through two games and Mockobee should get a healthy dose of carries against that defense.
Other Options- Marcus Major, RB ($4,900), Anthony Hankerson, RB ($5,400)
