The late scratch of Christian McCaffrey from Monday Night’s game had DFS players around the globe scrambling at the last minute. Many landed on Jordan Mason ($3,000 Showdown; 25.2 FPTS), which turned out to be a sharp decision.
In the $2.25M Monday Night Millionaire tournament, Mason was rostered in the CPT slot by 14.9%, while 57.1% put him in the FLEX. Mason rewarded them handsomely, as he absolutely balled out to the tune of 28 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown. He also caught one pass for five yards.
Monday Night’s game got off to a slow start, as each team kicked a field goal, before Breece Hall ($10,200; 19.3 FPTS) scored the first and only touchdown of the quarter.
The under was looking good.
But there was plenty of time left in the game and the 49ers offense is like a river flowing down from the peak of a mountain. Sometimes it drips, while other times it’s an uncontrollable rapid. Regardless, it always goes in one direction, which is putting points on the scoreboard.
Last season, San Francisco scored at least 30 points nine times. On Monday, it exceeded the mark once again, finishing with 32 points on the night.
Deebo Samuel ($9,600; 7,000; 18.7 FPTS) scored the first touchdown for San Francisco on a two-yard jet sweep.
Mason then scored from five yards out with 7:47 left in the third quarter, putting San Francisco up 23-7.
Aaron Rodgers ($9,000; 9.58 FPTS) finally did something, as he connected with Allen Lazard ($2,000; 26.9 FPTS) for a 36-yard touchdown.
Per NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Rodgers threw it 28.2 yards in the air and the completion probability was 47.2%. Lazard had 2.2 yards of separation when the ball arrived.
With the 49ers dominating and the outcome of the game decided, the only sweat that remained was for the under bettors, which got down to 43. After the Lazard touchdown, the total was at 39 points, but there was still an entire quarter left to play.
San Francisco made a field with 9:46 left in the game to make it 42. With 4:24, the 49ers added another field goal to make it 45, crushing the 43 and under bettors, but those at 46 were still live.
With 30 seconds left in the game, though, Tyrod Taylor ($6,000; 6.14 FPTS) was inserted for mop-up duty, and he tossed a three-yard touchdown pass to Lazard for his second of the night.
The winning lineup in the $2.25M Monday Night Millionaire had Lazard at CPT. Only 1.4% of teams did so, while only 11.5% put him into the FLEX.
