Christian McCaffrey ($8,700) was a surprise inactive this past Monday vs. the Jets, but Kyle Shanahan had some positive updates Tuesday, telling the media McCaffrey would have played if Monday was a playoff game and that he is considered day-to-day.
While this is encouraging, McCaffrey’s status for this Sunday vs. the Vikings remains up in the air and if he is out, Jordan Mason ($5,200) will be a must-play. Starting for McCaffrey on Monday, Mason rushed 28 times for 147 yards and a TD, resulting in 25.2 FPTS. Notably, Mason logged 80.6% of the snaps and he was the only 49ers back to see a carry. Now, if McCaffrey plays, it’s hard to imagine he will see his usual role, and he and Mason will likely split the work, hurting both players’ fantasy values.
