Browns TE David Njoku could miss 4-to-6 weeks

The Browns went down 33-17 to the Cowboys in Week 1, and their offense struggled to get much going against a stout Dallas defense. The Browns also took a hit when Njoku was forced to leave the game early in the third quarter after sustaining an ankle injury while being tackled by Malik Hooker and Eric Kendricks.

On Monday morning, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Njoku is likely dealing with a high-ankle sprain.

Since Njoku is likely dealing with a high ankle sprain, he will miss 4-6 weeks, although the Browns are hoping the injury is on the less severe side and he may be at the front end of that window.

Before departing, Njoku caught four of his five targets and had 44 receiving yards which led the team even though he missed almost the entire second half. While he is sidelined, Jordan Akins will likely take over as the top tight end for the Browns, and he actually finished second on the team with 27 receiving yards on three catches in Week 1.

In season-long leagues, Akins is a decent option at tight end on the waiver wire for Week 2 along with Isaiah Likely of the Ravens and Colby Parkinson of the Rams.

For Week 2 DFS contests, including the NFL $3.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st], Akins is only $3,000 and could be a great value going into the Browns matchup in Jacksonville next Sunday.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Browns are +3.5 in that road contest with the over/under set at 41.5. Both teams will be looking to bounce back from tough Week 1 losses and avoid 0-2 starts to what they hoped would be playoff seasons.
