The first Sunday Night game of the 2024 season features what could be one of the highest scoring games of the day. The Rams and Lions have one of the highest game totals on DraftKings Sportsbook. I’ll give you some of my best bets and predictions for this matchup.

Jared Goff over 270.5 passing yards -115
I think this is going to be a great player prop game. To start, I believe we’ll see a big passing performance for Goff against what’s going to be a very poor Rams secondary. If you’ve been following Goff’s career at all, you know he thrives in a dome atmosphere. Last season, he averaged 280 passing yards at home with 22 of his 34 passing touchdowns.
You also have to wonder what this Rams’ pass rush is going to look like now that Aaron Donald is out of the mix. When Goff was working with a clean pocket last season, he boasted a 76% completion rate, a 83% adjusted completion rate, 8.3 yards per pass attempts and 28 of his 34 passing touchdowns. I think there is a lot to like about Goff in this game, especially if we are under the belief that this will be a high scoring game, as the 52 point game total indicates.
I don’t hate taking a look at some of his alternate totals as well. Goff to throw for 300+ passing yards is +190 and 325+ is +360.
Jameson Williams longest reception over 19.5 yards -115
Nothing but good things have been said over the past week about Williams. Not only are the Lions thrilled about his progression, but Williams has said just as much. Talking about his overall confidence, Williams was quoted as saying it’s “As high as it’s every been and continuing to climb.” This could finally be the year where we see the true potential of the Lions first round pick in 2022.
Williams was the Lions big play threat when he was able to take the field. Last season, his aDOT was at 16.4. Despite only playing in 15 games, Williams was second on the team with targets of at least 20 yards. He only trailed Amon-Ra St. Brown by one in that category. While drops have continued to be in issue during practice, when Williams does get a hold of one of these passes, he’s usually gone. Against a Rams secondary that were thinking is going to be quite generous to begin with, this feels like a great spot for Williams to open up the season on a high note.
Lions -1.5 1Q spread -108
I do believe the Lions will get out to a quick lead in the first quarter. Going back to last season, the Lions were the second-highest scoring team in the first quarter, averaging 7.1 points. They also went 10-9 ATS in the first quarter last season. As I mentioned earlier, there is just so much to like about the Lions in this game with the Rams secondary in question and the likelihood that their pass rush is going to take a major step back without Donald. Goff is almost surgical when he’s working with a clean pocket and playing at home.
