Marlins 2B Connor Norby crushes two homers in Sunday slugfest

By: Zach Thompson

The Marlins earned a split of their four-game series with the NL East-leading Phillies by picking up wins on Saturday and Sunday in Miami. After losing 16-2 on Friday, they bounced back with a 9-5 win on Saturday and an even more impressive 10-1 win on Sunday afternoon.

Rookie Connor Norby ($3,800; 32 FPTS) led the way in both those wins. He went 3-for-5 with a home run and 21 fantasy points on Saturday, and then he smashed two homers on Sunday while going 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Norby was acquired by the Marlins from the Orioles at the trade deadline in exchange for starting pitcher Trevor Rogers. Since joining the Marlins, Norby has gone 24-for-73 (.329) with six homers and a wOBA well over .400.

Another Marlins’ youngster, Griffin Conine ($2,800; 13 FPTS) had three hits in the win while Xavier Edwards ($4,400; 11 FPTS) added his 25th stolen base of the year.

Even after their two straight losses, the Phillies still have a seven-game lead in the NL East. This loss does drop them 1/2 game behind the Dodgers in the race for the best record in the MLB, though. The Dodgers have also passed them for the shortest odds to win the National League, and the Phillies are now +250 to win the NL and +550 to the World Series.

All the offensive run support came in support of Edward Cabrera ($7,500; 29.35 FPTS), who had six strikeouts and gave up just three hits in seven shutout innings to earn his fourth win of the season.
