With 19 games left in the regular season, the San Diego Padres have been applying pressure and were 5.5 games back in the NL West standings heading into Sunday. But, the Dodgers have maintained composure and haven’t lost a series since early August when they hosted the Philadelphia Phillies.
After splitting the first two games against the Cleveland Guardians, the Dodgers won the rubber game, 4-0.
Shohei Ohtani ($7,000; 17 FPTS) has been the talk of the MLB Town, as he is on the historic quest for the first 50/50 season in MLB history. And he delivered, of course, with a solo shot in the fifth inning for his 46th of the season.
The star of the day, though, was starting pitcher Jack Flaherty ($10,300; 30.1 FPTS), who shut down the Guardians for 7.1 innings, struck out six, did not issue a walk, and allowed only four hits.
Entering Sunday’s game, Flaherty had started six games for the Dodgers, pitched 34 innings, and racked up a 4-1 record while posting a K/9 of 10.85 and a FIP of 4.03.
Will Smith ($4,700; 15 FPTS) went 3-for-4 with a RBI, one run scored and a double.
Max Muncy ($4,800; 18 FPTS) walked twice and added a solo home run in the eighth inning.
