The Red Sox lost five straight before bouncing back with a win on Friday, and they’re quickly fading from the AL Wild Card race. They will get a boost on Saturday, though, with the return of SS Trevory Story, who has been sidelined since the second week of the season. On April 5, he made this diving attempt and suffered what was later diagnosed as a broken shoulder socket:
Story was expected to miss the rest of the season, but his recovery has been ahead of schedule and he’ll now be in the lineup this Saturday night when the Red Sox face the White Sox. He costs just $3,600 in DFS contests like the MLB $100K Relay Throw [$25K to 1st] and could offer big-time upside if he’s back to 100%.
Before the injury, Story started the year 7-for-31 (.226) with three doubles and a stolen base. He had a hot Spring Training, hitting .380 with three homers and a .465 wOBA, and the Red Sox were counting on him to anchor their lineup this season. He played four rehab games for the Worcester Red Sox and went 6-for-16 (.375) with a double and a stolen base.
In his return, he’ll hit seventh in the Red Sox order that will face Garrett Crochet ($7,400), but Crochet hasn’t been pitching deep into games lately as the White Sox manage his workload. The Red Sox are favored despite the matchup at -198 on the moneyline. Story is -200 to have a hit and -115 to have over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI.
The Red Sox are five games out of the final Wild Card spot and are now +1000 to make the playoffs.
