Report: Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey agrees to a three-year extension

By: Zach Thompson

The Miami Dolphins locked up All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey by agreeing to a three-year deal that’s worth a total of $72.3 million, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. His annual salary of $24.1 million re-establishes him as the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL.

Ramsey came to the Dolphins before last season and was limited to 10 games by injuries. He had five pass breakups and limited opposing quarterbacks to a 52.9 passer rating, according to PFF. He served as a shutdown corner on the right side most of the time under DC Vic Fangio, but this year, new DC Anthony Weaver has stated he wants to move Ramsey around the field more as an “ultimate chesspiece.”

Ramsey is expected to return to practice on Friday after missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to a hamstring injury. If he’s able to play on Sunday, he’ll have to try and slow down Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars. The Dolphins are currently three-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook and the over-under for the Florida matchup is set at 49.

The Dolphins will look to Ramsey to anchor their defense this year and help them get back to the playoffs for a third straight year. This year, the team is -155 to make the playoffs and +205 to win the division.
