It’s one of the most anticipated baseball trading card releases of the year! 2024 Topps Bowman Chrome Baseball is set to be released on September 11, 2024. What makes this set so unique is the “1st Bowman” prospect cards. These cards represent the first printed versions of the game’s future starts. Think of it as the rookie card BEFORE the rookie card. As usual, 2024 Bowman Chrome will feature a 100-card base set and a 100-card prospect set. So, what can we expect in these upcoming hobby boxes? What prospects should we be hunting for? Let’s take a look.
2024 Bowman Chrome Hobby Box Details
According to the Topps webpage, we’re expected to receive the following in a hobby box:
- 2 mini-boxes per master box
- 6 packs per mini box
- 5 cards per pack
- 2 Chrome Autographs per master box
Parallel colors and odds
One of the best parts about ripping cards is the color that’s included. As you’d expect, this set will include a TON of different parallels for both the base and prospect set. We’ll break down the different parallels below. Some of these parallels appear in both sets.

Who are the top prospects to look for?
This is always the biggest question when ripping these cards. Who, exactly, should you be looking for? Let’s be honest, unless you’re hardcore in the deep minor leagues, you likely haven’t heard of most of these guys. Admittedly, this is not the strongest set of prospects we’ve seen in a Bowman product. Nonetheless, the focus will be on some of these names below, so keep an eye out for them when you’re ripping.

Bowman Chrome GPK Inserts
It was announced recently that a crossover between Bowman Chrome and Garbage Pail Kids would be happening in the 2024 set. At first, I was skeptical of what these would look like. Now that I’ve seen them, I’m in love with them. These cards are considered to be ultra-rare case hits and will feature a base, Red /5, and Superfractor 1/1. While a full checklist on these has yet to be released, rookie cards of Paul Skenes, Jackson Holliday, Elly De La Cruz, Jasson Dominguez, Jackson Chourio, and Jordan Lawler are amongst them.
