Joe Musgrove ($8,000; 30.5 FPTS) was atrocious to begin the season. In 10 starts, he posted an 8.03 K/9, 1.82 HR/9 and 5.36 FIP. Then an MRI revealed a bone spur in his right elbow and he was shut down for two months.
Since returning to action in August, Musgrove has made four starts and has been much better. Despite having a paltry K/9 of 7.89, he hasn’t allowed a home run and the FIP has been 2.25. Granted, he’s been fortunate with a .232 BABIP.
On Monday, Musgrove thoroughly dominated the Tigers. He struck out eight in six innings, walked two and did not allow an earned run on three hits. Musgrove threw 94 pitches on the night.
For offense, Luis Arraez ($4,300; 17 FPTS) singled in a run in the third inning and replicated the feat in the eighth inning. Arraez also stole a base and scored on a Manny Machado ($5,400; 5 FPTS) single later in the inning.
In the $150K Relay Throw tournament, Musgrove is rostered on 36.4% of teams.
With the Los Angeles Dodgers also winning today, the Padres remain five games back in the NL West. DK Sportsbook has the Padres at +1200 to win the NL West. The Dodgers are the heavy favorites at -1400.
