Scheffler ($12,200; 81.5 FPTS) began the TOUR Championship with a two-stroke lead. After shooting a six-under 65 on Thursday, he extended the advantage to seven strokes. The field caught up to him a bit on Friday, but he still maintains a four-stroke lead heading into the weekend after shooting a five-under 66.
On the front nine, Scheffler drained three birdies. On the back nine, he birdied the first hole but gave it back with a bogey on Hole 13. He then birdied two of the last three holes to close out the round.
Scheffler is now 21-under after two rounds.
Collin Morikawa ($9,100; 81 FPTS) shot a 66 on Thursday, only one stroke behind Scheffler, but due to his starting position of four-under, was seven strokes back. On Friday, Morikawa bested Scheffler by three strokes and now sits four strokes back of the lead.
Morikawa was clean on the front nine, racking up four birdies with a three-hole streak on holes 6, 7 and 8. On the back nine, he birdied the first hole but gave it right back with a bogey on the next hole. He finished the round with four birdies.
Xander Schauffele ($11,000; 62 FPTS) shot a one-under 70 on Thursday and was seven strokes back of Scheffler, but he made a ferocious comeback on Friday, going seven-under and putting himself five strokes back of the lead. It was an unblemished round for Schauffele, as he drained four birdies on the front nine and three on the back nine.
In the $800K Summer Sand Trap tournament, Schaffele is rostered on a whopping 54.07% of teams. Scheffler is on 35.84% while Morikawa is at 19.04%.
DK Sportsbook has Scheffler as the heavy favorite at -340 to win it all. Schauffele is second at +550, while Morikawa is at +700.
