The 2024 TOUR Championship was structured so that the FedEXCup points leader started at 10-under par, the No. 2 at eight-under, the No. 3 at seven-under, the No. 4 at six-under, the No. 5 at five-under, players 6-10 at four-under, players 11-15 at three-under, players 16-20 at two-under, players 21-15 at one-under and players 26-30 at even par.
Scottie Scheffler ($12,200; 58.5 FPTS) dominated the season, racking up six wins and 15 Top 10s in 18 events. That worked out to 6,615 FedExCup points. In second place was Xander Schauffele ($11,000; 34.5 FPTS) with 5,422 FedExCup points then a precipitous drop to Hideki Matsuyama ($10,100; 30.5 FPTS) with 3,899 FedExCup points.
The domination for Scheffler continued into the first round of the TOUR Championship, as he shot a six-under 65 on Thursday, the low round of the day. With the 10-under start, he is now 16-under for the tournament and leads the field by seven strokes.
The day did not begin well, as Scheffler bogeyed the first hole of the round. But he bounced back with two birdies to close out the front nine then racked up five birdies on the back nine, with a three-birdie streak on holes 12, 13 and 14.
In the $800K Summer Sand Trap tournament, Scheffler is rostered on 34.84% of teams.
DK Sportsbook has Scheffler as the heavy favorite at -350. Schauffele has the second-lowest odds at +800.
