We’ve got a fantastic slate of college football games to bet over Labor Day Weekend on DraftKings Sportsbook. Saturday afternoon brings us one of the most impactful of the bunch, as the Miami Hurricanes take the trip over to The Swamp to face the Florida Gators. Let’s breakdown the game.
Wyoming +7 (-105) at Arizona State
I backed the Cowboys here at +7 (-110) for 1-unit earlier in the summer, and while we got movement down to +6, the line has popped back up. There are some questions with Wyoming, which we’ll cover, but I think we have much less to be worried about with them than this Arizona State program.
For starters, of course, Craig Bohl was the head coach for the Cowboys for ages, and rode off into the sunset. That leaves Jay Sawvel to make his HC debut, but he returns 13 starters and has a lot to work with. The second downer for the Cowboys this season is that starting RB, Harrison Waylee, underwent knee surgery and will miss extended time. But this was a 9-4 team in 2023, and there’s plenty of optimism moving forward.
While we might have to trust a couple of unknowns with Wyoming, everything about Arizona State seems unknown. This was a 3-9 program that shifts over to the Big 12 after going 2-6 ATS at home last season. The Sun Devils were favored one time in 2023 — by 34.5 in their home opener against Southern Utah. They barely won the game by three points.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys stole their opener last year, defeating Texas Tech by two points as a 13.5-point dog. It was their second outright win in the first half of the season, also taking down Fresno State as a 5.5-point dog in October. I might ultimately call for the upset in this one as well. Wyoming has 42% of the tickets for 47% of the handle on the spread, but also a whopping 53% of the handle on the moneyline on just 15% of the tickets (betting date as of August 29).
Keep an eye out for a late night Cowboys upset on Saturday against a Sun Devils team that should be extremely underwhelming.
