According to a report by Mike Garafolo from NFL Network, the Buffalo Bills have waived DL Gable Steveson. For now, this ends his dream of playing in the NFL. Steveson won an Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games. Before signing a training camp deal with the Bills, Steveson had no prior football experience.
Steveson played in all three preseason games for the Bills, totaling three tackles and two QB hits. Steveson, 24, still has time to learn and improve as a football player to make an NFL roster in the future. During training camp, Steveson still showed flashes of his elite athleticism.
Steveson attended the University of Minnesota, where he won three Big Ten championships and two NCAA Division One championships. After finishing his collegiate career, he decided to take the professional wrestling route and sign a contract with the WWE. Steveson was under contract with WWE for three years but only ended up wrestling 17 matches. Steveson spent time in NXT, the developmental brand for WWE. After getting called up to the WWE main roster at the beginning of 2024, Steveson never appeared on TV. On May 3, Steveson was released from his contract.
Steveson’s next move is currently unknown, but the 24-year-old will impact the sports world in the future.
