In the battle of teams that start with S, the St. Louis Cardinals scored in four innings while the San Diego Padres had three innings with a run. Unfortunately, the Cardinals could only plate one in each of their innings while the Padres hung crooked numbers in theirs.
Manny Machado ($5,200; 29 FPTS) started the festivities with a two-run homer in the first inning.
In the third inning, Jackson Merril ($4,700; 17 FPTS) drove in another two with a single.
In the fifth inning, Machado drove in one with a double then the Padres added another on a sacrifice fly.
Machado finished the night with the home run, the double, three RBI, three runs and a walk. Merrill had two hits drove in three and stole a base.
Kyle Gibson ($7,700; -6.25 FPTS) got rocked for seven earned runs on five hits in 4.1 innings. He also walked four.
