On Monday’s edition of The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, Dan and the Shipping Container dive into the latest goings on with Coach Prime, including discussing the media’s coverage of Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes.
It came out recently that Coach Prime and the football team will not engage in questions from by Denver Post columnist Sean Keeler. This move follows CU’s view of Keeler’s actions as “a string of criticisms” against Deion and the program. Keeler has addressed Coach Prime as a ”false prophet,”‘” ”Deposition Deion,” ”Planet Prime” and Dan’s favorite, the “Bruce Lee of BS.”
After Mike points out that First Take spent 43 MINUTES on this story. Dan says all eyes are going to be on Boulder. Dan tells Stugotz, “The heat on this is now at an unusual and unreasonable place; if he is going to decide to fight the media the way he has always fought the media, the place that this gets ratcheted up to is unlike any other college football coach is enduring.”
Dan adds context by stating that college coaches receive scrutiny from the media. However, the coverage of the Buffaloes and Coach Prime has now reached a nonsensical level even before they’ve played their first game of the season — which leads Mike Ryan to jokingly ask who will be airing the game this week before pointing out that, oh yeah, the Colorado game will be on the very same network that spent 43 MINUTES this morning on this story this morning.
Dan goes as far as to bring up the specter of Tim Tebow, saying say the coverage of Coach Prime will be similar to how the media covered Tebow. It’s the easiest thing in the world, he said before adding that the Worldwide Leader will go to great lengths to get the most out of every Colorado football headline, given the traction it can lead to bringing more eyes to the network. Mike says ESPN is in a curious spot, but they’re just feeding the machine … because they are the machine.
Colorado is currently a 9.5-point favorite against North Dakota State at DraftKings Sportsbook and has +1400 odds to make the 12-team College Football Playoffs.

Stugotz is sad that his “if you’re going to lose, it’s better to lose early” theory has lost some weight with the expansion of the College Football Playoff. The crew breaks down where things went wrong for FSU and DJ Uiagalele in Week 0 against Brent Key’s Ramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech. Then, Billy ‘The Duke’ Gil wants to play “Win or Loss” with FSU’s remaining schedule and explains to the crew why his ascension through the ranks as a football analyst has seemingly come to an end. Plus, Paul Finebaum says it’s time for The U to return to national prominence, the hiccup in DJ U’s name, and Billy’s new media job at FIU.
Hour 1: ITS SUEY SEASON
THE SUEYS ARE BACK! Before we get to a LOADED Best Dismissal category, Stugotz kicks off the hour with his Weekend Observations. While Dan wants to celebrate Bosh, Stugotz wants to know whether Dragic deserved a retirement game. Plus, Billy is tired of hearing that Aaron Judge is on a historic pace. Then, Roy has a story about Rose from Key West. Juju gets a kick out of Roy’s priorities, then dives into numerous topics to wrap up the show including why people are focusing on all the wrong things surrounding Aja Wilson’s buzzer-beater from over the weekend.
