In the race for the top seed in the American League, the Astros made critical ground by taking a crucial series on the road against the upstart Orioles.

Houston gave the ball to Yusei Kikuchi ($11,600 Showdown; 11.75 FPTS) to start, and he delivered another solid showing. Despite struggling to find the zone, he avoided a total collapse across five-and-two-thirds by only allowing three earned runs. The southpaw fanned four and continued to look like a different pitcher than the one who started the season in Toronto.

After a few frames knotted at three, Alex Bregman ($8,400; 17 FPTS) and Yainer Diaz ($7,400; 14 FPTS) went back-to-back to put the Astros in front. It’s been a monster August for Bregman, as he’s batting over .300 on the month with an OPS approaching 1.000.

Ramon Urias ($5,600; 18 FPTS) was the only source of offense for Baltimore, launching a three-run shot for his ninth homer of the season.

The Astros have climbed to +425 to win the AL pennant, creeping up on the Orioles at +370.
