Woo (8,800; 29.35 FPTS) made his MLB debut last season, eventually racking up 87.2 innings. He had a K/9 of 9.55 and was a strikeout machine in the minors, posting K/9s in the 12 range. As with most young pitchers, though, the walk rate was high at 3.18 BB/9 and he finished with a FIP of 4.36.
In his second go around in the majors this season, the K/9 has plummeted to 6.81, but he’s walked only nine batters and allowed five home runs in 80.2 innings. The FIP is an impressive 2.91. Out of all pitchers that have thrown at least 80 innings this season, there are only nine with a FIP under 3.0.
On Sunday, Woo continued his stellar ways as he allowed only one earned run on four hits in seven innings against the San Francisco Giants. He did not walk a batter and struck out seven.
The lone blemish was a two-run home run by Heliot Ramos ($4,500; 19 FPTS) in the first inning.
Robbie Ray ($9,000; 9.75 FPTS) only lasted three innings due to a hamstring injury. He struck out four, walked three and allowed one earned run on a hit.
The Mariners scored one in the first inning, one in the fifth and two in the sixth to lead 4-2. Grant McCray ($2,500; 19 FPTS) hit a solo shot in the eighth inning to make the final score 4-3.
Seattle did not hit any home runs but stole five bases. Dylan Moore ($3,600; 24 FPTS) walked twice and stole three bases while Randy Arozarena ($4,400; 14 FPTS) and Josh Rojas ($3,000; 17 FPTS) each notched one. All three players scored a run.
