It feels like WNBA action just got underway after the Olympic break, but believe or not, the playoffs are just around the corner. Regular season play ends September 19th with the playoffs beginning September 22nd, so there’s only about a month left to get in on regular season WNBA action on DraftKings Sportsbook. Below, I’ve laid out my top bets for Friday’s four-game WNBA betting card, plus provided analysis based on recent trends and player strength.
Minnesota Lynx at Las Vegas Aces
MINN Lynx Moneyline (+124)
The Lynx have been on a tear recently, winning their last four games and building a two-game cushion between themselves and second-place Seattle Storm to top the Western Conference. It’s key to note their last matchup was against the Aces, in which they powered past the two-time defending champs 98-87 anchored by a 23-point performance from stud forward Napheesa Collier and a season-high 22 points from Courtney Williams. The Lynx shot 59.4% from the field and 57.9% from three, building a 15-point lead and staying in control. A’ja Wilson was held to just 15 points on Wednesday—ending her streak of 20-plus points in 10 games—while Minnesota had five players hit double digits. I’m honestly surprised the Aces are favorited in this game, seeing as how dominant and controlled basketball the Lynx have played recently.
Napheesa Collier 18+ Points (-180)
Piggy-backing off of the thoughts above, the Lynx have been cooking largely because of Collier. The 6’1 forward dropped 23 points last game and 30 the game prior, and has been an dominant force on both sides of the court for her team. She is also averaging a near double-double on the year (20.4 PPG, 9.8 RPG) and I don’t see her slowing down tonight.
Connecticut Sun vs. Chicago Sky
CON Sun -9.5 Alt Spread (-145)
The Sun started off the regular season hot 9-0 but have been on a bit of a roller coaster as of late, alternating wins and losses in their last seven games. They are coming off of a 69-61 win over the Sparks on Tuesday, but don’t think I’m following this back-and-forth trend for tonight. Connecticut is rested after two full days off, and still sit second in the WNBA with a record of 20-7, just barely ahead of the Lynx. The Sun also lead the WNBA in limited opponent scoring by allowing just 73.5 points per game and keeping opponents to 43.5% shooting. While last game was an offensive slump, I expect them to bounce back against the Sky, who sport a 5-9 record playing Eastern Conference teams while allowing an average of 81.7 points to said teams. The Sun also dominated Chicago in their last matchup, 83-75, even with rookie Angel Reese leading her team with a 20-point double-double.
Angel Reese 12+ Rebounds (-165)
Speaking of the Sky’s rookie, it’s safe to say the rebound battle is in the underdog’s favor. The Sky lead the league in rebounds, averaging 37.1 per game, whereas the Sun are 9th in the WNBA with 33.9 rebounds. Reese has been dominating the boards recently, putting up 20 rebounds last game, 15 two games prior, and logging 14 games this season with 12+ rebounds. If anyone is going to absolutely crash the boards tonight, it’s Angel Reese.
