For the second straight season, the Diamondbacks have flipped the switch during the season’s homestretch. The Snakes entered Friday night coming off a series sweep against the Miami Marlins and continued their dominance in a thrashing of the Red Sox in front of the Fenway faithful.
Ryne Nelson ($6,700; 19.9 FPTS) took the mound for Arizona and was stellar. The righty overpowered Boston hitters with his electric four-seamer, as he punched out seven across six innings while only surrendering two earned runs.
Eugenio Suarez ($4,200; 32 FPTS) had a monster outing at the plate, notching three hits, including a seventh-inning grand slam into the monster seats to put the game to bed.
Cleanup hitter Josh Bell ($4,100; 15 FPTS) reached base four times as he tallied a trio of singles and worked a walk.
The Sox’s most prominent contribution came from late lineup addition Rob Refsnyder ($4,000; 14 FPTS), who uncorked his ninth homer of the season on a solo shot in the sixth.
The Diamondbacks continue their meteoric rise, as they’ve climbed to +850 to win the National League pennant.
