During a game against the Chicago White Sox on August 12th, Yankees 3B Jazz Chisholm Jr. suffered an elbow injury after sliding into home. Although X-rays were negative and the MRI did not reveal a tear, the Yankees decided to keep Chisholm Jr. out of action for the last eight games.
Per SNY’s Andy Martino, Chisholm Jr. will return for Friday’s contest against the Colorado Rockies. DraftKings Sportsbook has the Yankees at -290 on the moneyline and the O/U is 8.5.
Since being acquired, Chisholm Jr. has had 61 plate appearances with the Yankees. He’s slashed .316/.361/.702 with a 6.6% walk rate, 26.2% strikeout rate and .386 ISO. That’s resulted in seven home runs, 13 runs, 11 RBI and five stolen bases.
Friday’s starter for the Rockies is LHP Kyle Freeland. Against left-handed pitching this season, Chisholm Jr. has a .265 batting average with four home runs and 41 strikeouts. Freeland is a soft-tossing lefty who averages 92 mph on the fastball. His FIP is 4.42, while his strikeout rate is only 7.34 per nine innings.
