With just 15 days until the NFL season officially kicks off, the Denver Broncos have officially named rookie Bo Nix the starting quarterback.
The 24-year-old was drafted with the 12th overall pick by the Denver Broncos this year. He has been regarded highly by head coach Sean Payton and now officially beat out Jarrett Stidham for the starting job.
Nix had an impressive college football career which included spending three seasons at Auburn before transferring to Oregon for the final two years. He was named the 2023 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year for his strong play.
While the announcement is just becoming official today, the writing has been on the wall for Nix to receive the opportunity for quite some time. Many were shocked to hear his name called so early in the draft and the organizational praise for his overall ability has continued since this point.
The Broncos enter this season with +600 odds to make the playoffs and a season-long wins total sitting at just 5.5 games on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Bo Nix will still be looked at as a threat to make an impact this season. He holds +320 odds to have the most passing yards of all rookies and is 4th in Offensive Rookie of the Year odds at +1000.
The Broncos still have a long way to go before being looked at as contenders again, but if Nix can establish himself as their quarterback of the future this year it will be a massive step in the right direction.
