Amid a heated race to the finish in the AL East, the Baltimore Orioles will temporarily be without one of their recently acquired arms. The team announced this evening that they placed Zach Eflin on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation stemming from his start Friday against the Red Sox.

The righty was expected to pitch tomorrow in the series finale against the Mets.

The 30-year-old has been dazzling since coming over from the Rays in July, amassing a 4-0 record with an impressive 2.13 ERA.

Orioles’ manager, Brandon Hyde, expects Eflin to have a brief stint on the shelf. The latter saw improvement after initial discomfort, but not enough to return to the mound.

Baltimore is +140 to win their second-consecutive AL East crown and +380 to claim the pennant.
