The Brewers got a great outing from Colin Rea ($7,400; 27.35 FPTS) on Sunday afternoon to close out a three-game sweep of the Guardians. Milwaukee has now won five straight games against the Guardians and Dodgers and opened up a commanding 10-game lead in the AL Central.
Rea carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning when he gave up back-to-back singles before retiring the always-dangerous Jose Ramirez ($6,400; 0 FPTS) to end the inning. He pitched one more frame to finish with seven shutout innings and lowered his ERA to 3.52 on the season. He claimed his 11th win of the season, which is a vast improvement on his previous career-high of six wins from last season.
Rea’s gem was especially huge for his DFS players on Sunday since he was a great source of value and leverage. In the MLB $300K MEGA 8’S, Rea only had a 1.6% ownership.
In this Sunday afternoon matchup, Rea squared off against former Brewer Ben Lively ($6,800; 14.7 FPTS), who also had a strong outing. The Brewers did scratch out one run in each of the first two innings, though, which was all the run support that Rea would need in this contest. It also definitely didn’t hurt to get defense like this:
After their five-game winning streak, the Brewers are 10 games ahead of the Cardinals and -10000 to win the division. They have much longer odds in the postseason, though, and are +650 to win the National League and +1500 to win the World Series. They are also +550 to finish with the No. 1 seed in the National League even though they are only 1.5 games behind the Phillies after Sunday’s victory.
On the other side, the Guardians are clinging to a narrow lead in the A.L. Central with the Twins just 1 1/2 games back. Cleveland’s tough road trip continues as they head to the Bronx to face the Yankees on Tuesday after a day off on Monday.
