Bryce Miller ($8,400; 32.55 FPTS) had arguably his best showing of the season Thursday, striking out nine batters and only allowing two hits in his seven scoreless innings of work. In the $100K Relay Throw, Miller was rostered by 27% of the field. Unfortunately, the pitcher’s efforts weren’t enough, as the Mariners fell to the Tigers 2-1.
After Miller exited, Andres Munoz let up a two-run homer to Javier Baez ($2,600; 19 FPTS) in the bottom of the eighth, that secured the victory for Tigers. Parker Meadows ($3,100; 17 FPTS) also had a great day for Detroit, with a hit, a run scored and a pair of stolen bases, while Kenta Maeda ($5,000; 20.35 FPTS) was excellent in his five 2/3 innings pitched, with five strikeouts and only one hit allowed. Offensively for the Mariners in the loss, leadoff man Victor Robles ($3,600; 10 FPTS) had the most notable performance, producing a double and one stolen base.
With this loss, Seattle now sits three games back of the Astros for the top seed in the AL West. On the DraftKings Sportsbook, the Mariners carry +310 odds to win the division.
